Could you test a beta version below?
You may need to run Microsoft's latest redistribution module installation (VC\redistx86.exe)

The result is quite interesting:

1) Without plugging my camera in, I replayed video files with success.
2) I plugged in my camera and started viewing. It showed correctly.
3) I recorded a video and replayed it. It showed correctly.
4) I stepped through the video and it may have worked once, but then it stopped displaying frames.
5) No replaying, stepping or even video stream viewing would work anymore.

Besides this, could I suggest also to attempt to correct the situation where the video frame stepping and trigger frame are not working properly unless you match the frame rate in the Input screen to the one of the recorded videos? I change it quite often. The video files themselves probably have the correct frame rate stored in them that could be used for steps and trigger frame.

Shocked Wow... It's a symptom of a ghost living in the house.

That reminds me that I have heard similar stories in the past.
This is a case where UFOCaptureHD2 is improperly registered in the system registry by some module other than the UFO series.

Check the following registry with Registry Editor
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Direct3D\Shims\EnableOverlay

In some cases, if the directory where UFOCaptureHD2 was installed is registered here, deleting the registered value will fix the problem.

If it happens again, I 'd like to know the program/operation witch cause this.

I tried it. It is exactly what happened. I found the exe files in the registry. I remove it, and it works. However, while recording and playing back videos, stepping through frames, at some random moment, the registry value comes back and the problem returns! This only happens with the value for the actively used program.
Currently it stays away for a longer time...

It seems something in the system itself. When it turns off the screen (power saving) while UFOHD is running, and it comes back, sometimes the video stream can be visible again. I saw the same problem reported by Roy Yaniv in this forum.

I have checked 6 Windows 11 PCs and 3 Windows 10 PCs near me. All of them have UFOCaptureHD2 working fine.
The registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\OFTWARE\Microsoft\Direct3D
Only one Windows 10 machine had this directory.
That one also did not have Shims\EnableOverlay and UFOCapture was working fine.

It seems that the some version of recent Windows and/or the video-related installed programs makes
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\OFTWARE\Microsoft\Direct3D\Shims\EnableOverlay
and registers UFOCaptureHD2 directory there.

Simply, it seems to be a Microsoft bug.
I will look into a workaround, but it will take some time.

There might be another solution.
Place two UFOCaptureHD2s to another directory, there, one of it might escape the problem.

Thank you for info > T.Hattori
Is it Windows11?
The problem happens UFOAnalyzerV2 ? and/or UFOCaptureHD2?

The operating system is Windows10.
I am having problems with UFOCaptureHD2 only. So I am using UFOAnalyzerV2 to watch videos. Sorry for the lack of explanation.

I have observedexactly the same behaviour as Lightnigwizard
Quote:
1) Without plugging my camera in, I replayed video files with success.
2) I plugged in my camera and started viewing. It showed correctly.
3) I recorded a video and replayed it. It showed correctly.
4) I stepped through the video and it may have worked once, but then it stopped displaying frames.
5) No replaying, stepping or even video stream viewing would work anymore.

So far, in order to fix the problem, I had to reinstall UFOHD2 in a new directory, sometimes without success. It was a good tip to remove UFOHD2.exe from the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Direct3D\Shims\EnableOverlay
This works fine, but the problem pops up again after playing a video in UFOHD2 and the registry entry reapperars. Therefore I view the videos only in UFO Analyzer, which never showed any problems.
I am using Windows10 home 22H2 on a Pavilion 15cs0 with an Intel i5-8250 CPU.

This post showed me, that I am not alone with my problem. I can live with the removal of the registry item, much easier than reinstalling the program.

Thank you for clear explanation > Martin Dubs

Now I see that Microsoft seems to really want to get rid of the old interface/programs.
I am very anxious to find out if the new VMR9 module will work well with the UFO series modules.
First I would like to find a way to reproduce the problem on my PC. Something like using a specific video board and playing a specific video game: .... For me, knowing how to reproduce the problem is the first step.
Pls let me know if you come up with anything.

An additional problem is that I am in the middle of a radical improvement process for UA2-UO2. I don't think I will have time for a while.....

Your best bet is to install on a clean Windows 10/11 system with Intel i5/i7. I installed UFOCapture as one of the first things, before any other video related software and it did so from the start. The video replay issue I got only on recent Windows 10/11 laptops. Just not sure what triggers the registry entry. It could be a system service trying to optimize performance. It might also be a program like Anydesk/Teamviewer? But I use that only for viewing other PCs.

I also have another graphics card (NVIDIA RTX 3000) but it seems UFOCapture does not display anything when I force that to be used.

UFOCaptureHD2 V4.75 that uses VMR9 renderer was published
https://sonotaco.com/soft/e_index.html#ufohd2
This version probably solves the display problem of the video concerning HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Direct3D\Shims\EnableOverlay.
